Difficult weekend, the timing of things are changing and it’s hard to know what will happen. Cold front coming through, but the expected timing was better the last 2 days than now. Oh well. I have family and friends in Hilton Head, where they evacuated and are fearing a 12-15′ storm surge. If they get it, the gear I have down there will probably be lost.

SAT: Rainy morning, with light S winds, possible venturi effect amplification a bit; then shifting W and favoring Big O south shores….if the shift comes before dark. Rain should let up. Not such a great day, but there might be a silver lining locally (Seneca in the AM; Big O in the PM). I wouldn’t drive far looking for wind.

SUN: Cooler (bring neoprene). N winds, not particularly strong but penetrating from Big O down to the Finger Lakes. Again, rely on local effects / knowledge to decide where/when/if to go.

On the bright side, the fall colors between Ithaca and Elmira were brilliant today, in bright sun and clear skies.

As I read this it looks like this Saturday forecast may be playing out.  Seneca had some early, likely for the kites and now maybe Ontario has turned on with a freakish change to 25 wnw 10:45 a.m..  I’ll have to check back after the day to see how close the Freaky FX was.
