Well yes, we all know that it delivers more than just wind and weed fins also work well for toilet paper and diapers but when it blows it blows! “The Gang That Can’t Pee Straight” made an appearance for a royal flush of wind on the pond. Once again Art and Joe rigged perfectly and dialed in some awesome sailing! I was determined to get my fat ass through planing gybes and rig big and clearly my distrust of the forecast was evident as I pulled out my 6.9 much to the amazement of my colleagues. (Gusts were later recorded as well into the 30’s) But as it usually happens as soon as you roll out your sail the wind picks up and I rolled out two before settling on the third a 5.7 Ezzy Elite which I rode on my 95 Fanatic Freewave. This worked well getting me through my gybes and I was plenty powered up, but later on it was simply too big and by the time I decided I couldn’t hang on anymore I was too exhausted to down rig and from shore it just kept ramping up! Around here its always a shame to leave wind on the water and this time was no exception as I drove away it just kept blowing and Joe went out for his third session.
PS we were treated to a visit by Officer Puffy Chest as he made a slow pass by the gang and must have felt proud at his achievement of seeing all three vehicles park on the water’s side of the road getting battered by wind and waves. For me all the extra road crossings with various gear was simply a pain as we all know windsurfers don’t have right of way crossing the road in Greece! What do we need to do put flashing lights on our boards! Anyway….no turd was left unturned and it was actually another epic Long Pond session!
