On The Water

Nothing new here for the folks that follow Rochester Windsports on Facebook , but we’ve been lucky enough to have windsurfer and photographer Fred Bertram turn his (very long) lens to the kite and windsurfing action on Seneca Lake.  Excellent images in this gallery include Andrew’s Long Pier jump.

Scott and Art have been working hard (and crashing hard too) to get the hang of Windfoiling this season, and here is the fruit of their labor.  I caught up with them over a couple of autumn days in moderate West winds.  Success (and a good crash) in this gallery.

The lighting was pretty magical for this warm and windy session.  These shots are from the NYS Park launch and were towards the sun, so they needed some editing to really pop.  Hence the delay. This is gallery 1 of 2.  As always, these are also on the Photo page of the RWS Website.

THIS is Windsurfing. 

Riders like you and me, no sponsor stickers on sails. Wearing the love of the wind and water on the sleeve of a wetsuit.  Sandbanks Park lies across the lake from Rochester and Sodus in Ontario, and draws riders from hours away in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto.  The Unreal Windsurfing Tour is the grassroots stuff that will re-grow this sport.  Find them on Facebook on the RWS Facebook page.
