Hi Jordan,
I’m the guy who talked to you on the phone yesterday. I’m no expert windsurfer either, but have following comments:
I highly recommend a trip to Outer Banks or Florida – where you can get some instruction and rent equipment. Your sailing experience will come in handy, but the instruction is well worth shortening the learning c…[Read more]

Thanks Doug! I have experience sailing but this will be my first time windsurfing… i’m ok with a more advanced setup that I could grow into though, even if it’s more difficult to learn at first. I dont have any equipment so looking for a complete setup or pieces that would be compatible if I need to piece used/new together.

Hello Jordan,
Glad you found this forum. I hope somebody can help you out. Can you give us a little more info about your background? Have you windsurfed before, or will this be a new adventure for you? Do you have any previous similar sport experience that may assist you?
Some good used gear does exist around Rochester, but lets see if we…[Read more]

Hi Mark,
Welcome to the forum!
Boot wise I have a pair of Xcel booties that are 5mm thick. I like them a lot. I have blown through a couple other brands but these have really held up. They have a durable sole that is still thin enough for good feel, and all seems are glued inside and out. They also have nice pul loops that are super hel…[Read more]

I made a video a little over a year ago about keeping hands warm. It may help you. Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUWhnOKubOE&t=18s
As far as booties, Lisa and I both use Neil Pryde Mission (Fireline) 7mm booties. The new fabric is incredible stretchy which makes them an absolute pleasure to put on. I have a 6mm O’Neill…[Read more]

While it was a pretty warm fall and slow start to the winter, I haven’t been out in the water since mid November because it’s just too cold! Really looking forward to when it warms up, but I know the air will do so long before the water does… What’re your favorite boots/gloves/etc to stay warm in the late fall and early spring? Or even in the wi…[Read more]

Yo Scott!
The link above says the content has been removed or a bad link. I want to read it, so see if you can link it again.
OR, do a Google search: “How to be faster than Doug”, and you should get some good results. Bahhhhhhhahahah!!!

Without the luxury of demoing different boards due to no local dealer support research seems to be our only hope to match board designs to local sailing conditions. One search on the subject found this enlightening thread where one sailor asks the right questions we all want to…[Read more]

Ahto,
As I recall, I injected the Gorilla Glue into the holes from the bottle first and then sprayed the holes with water once the glue was inside. Try this on a plate or disposable surface first, to get a sense for how the glue rises for a given amount of water. I think I may have even counted how many shots/pumps of water I used on the test…[Read more]
