ScottParticipantYes sure looks interesting so much so that I’ve order a foil and board and can’t wait to start the learning. I went with a Goya Bolt 125 Freerace board with an MFC aluminum/carbon foil , opted for a 70cm mast to start with. My choice had a lot to do with the fact that my windsurfing board quiver really needed a light air board, so when I’m not foiling this board will be great for that as well.

ScottParticipantAverageJoe’s blog has a great page on the history (!) of sailboard foiling with lots of thoughts on the development. Hope this links works.

There is even a pic of a KiteWing Sailboard Hydrofoil. Or how about video of a longboard windsurfer on a foil from almost thirty years ago!!! Still hope for our longboards sitting in the attic.

ScottParticipantI’d like to add a review of my MFC foil purchased from Wind-NC out of Burlington, VT. , but it still hasn’t arrived yet!!!! Bought it two months ago! Fingers crossed….soon, or so I’ve been told.

ScottParticipantOf course as soon as I write this I get an email that says “your foil has been shipped”! I have to laugh though as the email states that “there are no assemble instructions includes so do this this and this…”. I mean like they didn’t have enough time to write up instruction even though it took two months to deliver! Only the medium size screw should be used in the fuselage and not too tight or it will strip. Ohhh…what have I got myself into!
