Long Pond was what Long Pond is….that’s been said before.

How about, Long Pond was like diving to the bottom of the ball crawl at Chuck E Cheese’s looking for lost game tokens….it’s smelly dirty work.  Some times you win and find a couple tokens, and some times you just come out with some skieve on your skin…..but you keep going back anyway.  Or at least I do.  Sometimes with zeal.

Following my son’s soccer game in Irondequoit I thought I had timed a meet up with Shoartboard Joe perfectly.  The Pond was low 20’s and building at a good direction.  I rigged up a hopeful 4.2 and headed out.  Yes, a few burns (tokens).  Then some lulls hit and I was barely water starting (the skieve).  Joe came out on a 4.8 and got some runs in and then the wind went west mostly and died (the equivalent of some little kid peeing in the ball crawl…..shut it down).

After two days of ball crawl Long Pond, Joe had had enough and packed it up.  I stuck around for a few more gusts in the 4.2 range and then headed for home as well.

It was my birthday today (Sunday) and I was feeling the love of family so opted not to sail Ontario…also intimidated by some hail and cold.  I got a late evening text from H2O Rick that he was riding good 4.8 at Webster till 6:30, solo.  The Sun does it’s thing all by itself too, and we are lucky for it.  Way to get it Rick.  The wind gods approve.

Group me lit up late with a Hamburg report, and Jay Go Gordon reported Montana was working too.

      Hoping for Monday.
