Geoff, sounds like a fun time! I was out hiking with the family (Green Lake this time) on Saturday, and saw the trees swaying around on the drive home and hoped some of you were tearing about!
I managed to get out to the north end of Canandaigua this afternoon just as the 15+ turned into 5-10 but sill had a good time tooling about with the GPS…[Read more]

Good story and write-up. Thanks for sharing. I was wondering how Seneca was yesterday. Lots of people on Lake Erie today.

Well, September is off to a funky start. After the skunk-job of the decade on Labor Day, when it was blowing S at 35 when the first of us arrived, and it proceeded to just plain shut off in the time of about 5 minutes (I was wicked powered up on a 4.2 when I headed out across the lake, made it to my jibe, and then was forced to schlog back across…[Read more]

Yeah, it felt off, too. These are more traditional sails, much more in the mainstream and like Ezzy and NP sails I used to ride, but I’ve gotten accustomed to Freaks and they’re just not for me anymore.

Btw, seeing Freaky G on anything other that Superfreaks was like when Robby tried to change away from pink in his sail. It just seemed off.
Haha,

Hey Geoff,
Sorry about that.
I did get your message, and I think I may have replied. I don’t check the website “chat” very often and it escaped my attention. I could not find any trace of anything related to pics waiting in a cue. sorry if it was a hassle. I have a fake/test account set up to test things like this so will try to upload mul…[Read more]

Sorry, thought I had posted the sizes with the pics. Think I did with the others, but not with this one
The sail shown above is a KS3 4.0.
The KSS (spiderlock, orange) is a 4.6.
The QU4D (red, blue and white) is a 5.2.
All 3 sails were purchased a year ago, and used 2x each since then. The 5.2 was in 9.5/10 condition by Hot Sails, the KS3 a…[Read more]

Geoff replied to the topic Lake Seneca on NW? in the forum General Windsports Discussion 4 years, 9 months ago
I have sailed several times in Geneva from the SP on a NW, mainly after fronts came through and a big wind shift brought the wind around. You would have to launch a bit S of the beach, but it’s shallow and do-able.
Winds from the NW tend to come in waves (lull with a rapid leading edge, strong push for a variable time, then dying down some).…[Read more]

Hi Brian,
Your plan sounds solid. Northerlies are surely doable and a few of the area riders do travel to Watkins Glen. I’m not sure of the rules of hte road regarding the launch down there though. The big issues will be your ability level and enough room for a safe launch. In our area we have been lucky to have fairly favorable rel…[Read more]

Geoff, I just looked back at my logs for the past 5 years. I think you are right! I don’t have any sessions recorded at Seneca with a day like today over the past 5 years. The closest was in 2018 when it blew 25-30mph for a session in July, and then it blew 15-25mph the following 2 days, but nothing with 30-35mph like today. Glad you scored big…[Read more]
