Wow, I hate to admit it but I sailed like #*($%& today. Just awful. Struggled with my kit all day.

It was, however, really nice to have a sub-5.0 day in the middle of July. I can’t remember the last time Seneca went off like that in July. It was my 4th outing of the year, on the heels of 2 years when I got little TOW, and boy did it show.

It’s a bad carpenter who blames his tools, but one problem (only one of them) that I had was with my “new” HSM sails. The 5.2 is a QU4D, the 4.6 is a KSS (Kauli Seadi Spiderlock). I guess I’ve used Super Freaks for too long, those sails are just too direct for me. I’ve grown accustomed to the soft easy handling Freaks. The QU4D and KSS were used, an experiment, and I’ve already ordered Freaks to replace them. So if anyone is interested in a 5.2 with about 4 uses and a 4.6 very good condition, let me know! I’m going back to all Freaks.

Hopefully, this relatively windy July portends more good things to come! I sure need to burnish off some rust…

Geoff, I just looked back at my logs for the past 5 years. I think you are right! I don’t have any sessions recorded at Seneca with a day like today over the past 5 years. The closest was in 2018 when it blew 25-30mph for a session in July, and then it blew 15-25mph the following 2 days, but nothing with 30-35mph like today. Glad you scored big man! We didn’t make the drive today as we’ve been getting a lot of good sessions here on Lake Erie and Ontario. Maybe next time. July has been good with 13 out of 16 days being windy.
