All,
As you know one of our champions, Lynn Davis, passed away a few months ago. What you may not know is it was his desire that his gear get to the community that he loved. His hope was that in some way this may help others enjoy our great outdoors like he did.
To honor those wishes and to help his son and daughter transition his passing, a handful of us have been working to advance this wish. Specifically, on what to distribute and how to distribute his gear.We filtered through his gear and wrestled with various propositions: hand it out at the Rochester Windsports Hook-in/Hang-out, maybe raffle it off. In the end we decided it was easiest if we used existing tools to distribute the gear: Ebay and the internet.
So we’ve listed the gear that might be salable (and sailable) for local pickup only. The choice to limit to local pickup was to limit it to the local sailing community – as much as possible.
We did put reserves on the prices (low). The money generated from these sales will 100% go to a fund managed by Lynns daughter. 100% of these funds will be used to further Lynns other passion: mountain biking, and are intended to be used for some form of park/trail maintenance.
Lynn loved the outdoors as much as he loved the community he helped build. Even in passing he’s looking out for our community. Here is hoping that his gear goes to people that will ride it hard, and enjoy it like he would have, and in doing so, strengthen our community.
