Message Group

Hi, I spoke to some members of this forum at Montana beach the other week and they had mentioned that there is some sort of message group (possibly WhatsApp or similar) that is used by a lot of the members to communicate when and where people are going.  Can someone share some more detail on this?

Hi Collin,

Welcome to the Forum.  I’m Doug, the admin. of this site.  I’m fairly certain that the message service that you’ve heard about is the Groupme app.  It is very convenient and pretty easy to become a part of.  Kiter Doug C. handles many of the Groupme  sign ups.  As best as I understand it, you can use the app, or have messages sent via SMS text messages.  Many of our members do both.

To sign up for Groupme we will need your cell phone number.  You will receive a message/text inviting you to the group, the rest of the current members will also see this invite.  You MUST respond to the invite to complete the invite.  A simple “thanks” or “got it” will suffice.  The next thing to do is to save the number you received the invite from, this is a unique number that you will use to send messages to the whole group.  You can choose to read messages only, or let people know relevant wind and launch related information only by starting a message.
