The wind meter at Canandaigua Sailboarding has been offline for an extended period.  According to Steve at CDGA Sailboard it is working fine in shop (I verified it).  The issue is that the tech on the meter has aged out of the Weatherflow system/network and they need to do a full upgrade (according to Weatherflow).

UNTIL WE CONTACT THEM REPEATEDLY IT IS NOT A PRIORITY FOR THEM.

Kites, windsurfers, sailors please sent a brief e mail asking them to get it up and running online.  Canandaigua is a primo spot for windfoiling which makes the meter a priority in my mind.

      Thanks all.

What is the name of the meter? I will send WeatherFlow a message. I’m in touch with those guys. Last year WeatherFlow replaced the meter at Hamburg, and I remember they were in the process of replacing others as well.

      Hey E!

Thanks for doing this.  The station is just known as “Canandaigua” on Weatherflow’s suite of products.  I have always gotten a good response from the folks running the show at Weatherflow, and they even relocated the Durand/Irondequoit meter to its preferred current location with help from Mark Rozensweig, and H2O Rick Griffin.  The need is there, especially as it is the spot in the northern Finger Lakes where windsurfing can be formally learned.

Will do,  this one is not bad either as a standby.  You can get wind graphs as well.

I spoke with Jeff Johnson at weather flow yesterday regarding the meters in our area and explained the concerns that all of you have. Daigua is a very old land line phone system which is no longer supported and needs to be updated to both cellular and 4G.

Hamburg has a directional issue which they know about and also has to be updated to 4G.

Kingston is 2G and has to be updated to 4G

I offered my assistance for the 4G upgrades so that I can learn what is involved when and if hardware is damaged and needs to be replaced.

In short Jeff reviewed his work scope and thinks the updates can begin middle of May. You guys can touch base with me as a reminder so I can give Jeff a call and get a solid commitment from their team.

Thanks Rick! And thanks Corey that Seager \Visitor Center meter is pretty good. Showing 28S right now! Yikes. Time to pack!
