  • Sat – Sunny but light winds, need paddle or wheels or just on foot.

Sun – S-SE and rain ~80%, so it depends if it’s scattered (not Fx) or steady or what. Check the radar before heading out.

    The disappointing trend continues…

  • Would be restricted to the big lake, since weeds would foul the foil.

Can’t say never, but it wouldn’t be my goal for a 2 hour drive from Ithaca…

  • Many thanks to Brad and PharmaBob for a great time and for their kindness in honoring me…I can think of a lot of guys (including Brad, Bob and Doug) who’ve done a whole lot for the Rochester Windsport community.

Thanks for a great party, good sausage, great brews and a fun time for all.

    Here’s hoping for 5.0…

  • Dang! Summer doldrums suddenly seem to be here and we never had Spring.

Seneca Bash – bring a paddle, for the dreaded L&V

Sunday – more southerly, but still <10

Memorial Day – westerlies, nothing great from Erie, PA to St Lawrence River, but maybe something will materialize.

Haven’t  been noticing full summer patterns (afternoon thermals,…[Read more]

  • I agree with Chris, as this looks to be more of a breakwall of rip-rap out in the mouth of the bay, though it will be fancied up by covering it with pebbles and eventually some sand/grass. Looks like they will start the beach-y feel by dredging up some sand at the start. But this illustration suggests that unless you take a canoe or paddleboard,…[Read more]

  • Limited details on GEMcasts this year. Have been doing detailed Fx for some time so readers should be getting better at this without help.

No change in the light S and stronger NW pattern that has been bedeviling RWS riders.

Sat suggests light S; Sail Flow suggests a chance for afternoon boost, but NWS isn’t buying it. I wouldn’t bet on it. If…[Read more]

  • Hoping for the forecast S on Saturday, I arrived at about 09:45 only to find a gentle 4-6 kts SSW. Waited a bit, and then went to Wegmans and Lowe’s hoping for the wind to build. Checked out the new launch site at the new town dock area (still under construction). More on that later.

Had pretty much given up and left Lowe’s back to Ithaca, when…[Read more]

  • Oneida Lake report – Mother’s Day 2016

After a very disappointing 2015 season, in which I sailed maybe 12 times and on shortboard <10 times, followed by the non-winter of 2015-2016, I was hoping for a good maiden voyage this weekend. Alas, windsurfing has a way of serving up humble pie, and I had a good helping today. I suspect, very strongly,…[Read more]

  • I think you’ll like your dry suit, Doug. They have much more freedom of movement than a neoprene dry suit.

Polartec underneath is fine, in my experience. A few years back I found a Kokatat uni on closeout, so I got one. The main benefit is that after a long session (or multiple sessions), the harness and motion tend to pull a top and bottom…[Read more]

  • I’ve got a Quiverack that used to be my mast/big sail carrier back in the days of my SAAB 900. Since I got the Tundra, it is no longer necessary and only collects dust now. Fits a 490 mast and “summer sail” (i.e., 9.0-ish), and will hold ~4-5 masts and 3-5 sails (depending on size/type). Underfittings are designed for Thule racks, but it wouldn’t…[Read more]

  • OK, got logged-in.

Interface is somewhat “low-contrast”…hard to see, but I’m sure you’ll figure out how to fix that.
