Probably the most windsurfers spotted at one time on Seneca in a LONG time. Going rather fast as well. Being on a foil I can certainly beat up wind of them but flat out speed runs in very rough water it seems I was neck and neck at times with many of them. Say hi on the water, we dont bite sharks :o)

Should continue as the jetstream is holding in a vertical north to south ….thank you climate change!

Probably the greatest shot of a kiter taken at seneca….pretty stunning.

Nice! Might be good to update Geneva’s State Park side to include language that tells folks to stay south of the swim area in the summer time….weve had ass clowns ride through the swim area before upsetting life guards….

Combo la nina and excess CO2 warming causing the cold arctic and warm boundaries to fracture  resulting in  a vertical jet stream running straight south to north over California….climate change in our back yard….extreme weather is now the norm….

Sarahfina: I’m guessing it was your father I interacted with that day.  I would be happy to put your dad in touch with another instructor to get help. There is a woman in Buffalo who gives great lessons. Another excellent kiter is now offering lessons in Oneida. His name is Mark Chatwin. Have your dad give him a call 315-559-4663. In the mean time your dad is welcome to get with our group and start off on the right foot. Best regards Brad

Funny how the sail sizes are close to kite sizes in these conditions.

      I needed a 4m that day…

Big monday it was. Looked like high 30s to low 40s. My 5m was choked off. Surface had that sheared action going on.

Few of us were on it. It lulled at noon and then roared back. Saw 2 sharks.

Amazed to hook into some waist-high drops in front of the spray park…lake ridonkulous….

What an unexpected surprise. I was out earlier in the day and it was swirly and dumpy. I was doing some work in the garage at 5pm and noticed it was 17 at the chamber and quickly scuttled the ship.  The HWS sail team headed in as the wind ramped up to low 20s. Strange to have strong winds and no swells on seneca so I took out the twin tip and practiced jumps. Had the whole chamber to myself for 2 hrs. pretty nice solo sunset sesh. I hear the Roch folks got some serious waves on Lake O too.

I dont believe we have a serious blue-green algal issue down here at Seneca.

I have seen this toxic stuff on occasion along the wall eddies when there is no wind for weeks on end during the summer. Its unmistakable…looks like someone dumped bright blue oil paint in the water.

Most of whats along the park shore line is a mixture of rotting weeds and some algae. I think some of the serious blooms that do pop are somewhat transitory.

Seneca is finally coming to life once more after a long summer hiatus….
